Since 2010, the West Side Day program has offered an unparalleled opportunity for West Side students to engage directly in the legislative process. Through a strong partnership with the West Central Community Development Group, the SWAN Coalition, and Senator Antonio “Moe” Maestas, we help students build a deep and lasting understanding of civic responsibility.

In collaboration with elected officials at the city, county, and state levels—as well as Albuquerque Public Schools and local business associations, the program welcomes an average of 600 students each year. We provide transportation, meals, and, most importantly, an invaluable hands-on lesson in civic engagement.

Since its inception, the West Side Day program has empowered more than 10,000 students to become informed, active participants in their community.
